At our state-of-the-art production facilities at Vienna’s oil port of Lobau, as well as in the Styrian Paltental valley, we produce up to approximately 206,000 tonnes of our high-quality biodiesel per year. During the production process, the used oil is mixed with methanol. This separates the glycerin contained in the oil, while the methanol binds to the oil’s fatty acids. This improves the oil’s quality as a fuel. It has been scientifically proven that biodiesel made from used cooking oil and grease offers CO₂ savings of up to 93 percent when compared to fossil diesel fuel.
By-products of the process are glycerine and potassium sulphate which are then used in the chemical industry, as well as the fertilizer industry.
